Plot[]

Part One: Kevin confides in Sally that he's getting his test results at the hospital today. She insists on accompanying him when he admits he hasn't told Abi as she's under a lot of stress as it is. Craig tells Nick and David that Leanne hasn't been charged as the police are analysing some new evidence. The hospital informs Carla that Rob is a suitable kidney donor and the operation can happen tomorrow if all parties agree. David warns Max and Shona that the police might have the hoodie. Lou Michaelis complains about the prices in the shop. She gets chatting to Gemma after recognising her as a fellow Bessie Street mum. Andy Garland pays David his £2k cut for his part in the robbery. David tells him to count him in if there are any more jobs going. Andy interests him in one that's risky, but with greater reward.

Part Two: With Sally by his side, Kevin is told that he has cancer. He finds out he'll need to have a testicle removed to determine what type of cancer they're dealing with. He finds the situation overwhelming and rushes out. Kit reads the report from forensics and is shocked at the results. Max refuses to wait around for the police to arrest him. Debbie lets herself into No.13 to find something burning in the oven and Abi sitting catatonic on the sofa. Realising that she's suffering a flashback, Debbie takes control of the situation before comforting her sister-in-law. Leanne is released without charge. Toyah picks her up, hoping that they're now ready to put the past behind them. Dev hears from Ravi Desai that his Auntie Gita has fallen down the stairs. He asks Bernie to come with him to India but she refuses to leave Gemma. Carla visits Rob and asks him if he'll have the operation tomorrow. He readily agrees. The police come to arrest Max. David and Shona discover he isn't in his room.

Part Three: Shona rings Max who hides out at the empty builder's yard. Leanne tells Toyah that she wants to get on with her life without her now. Sally reminds Kevin that she beat cancer, and assures him he will too. Worried that it's hereditary, Kevin decides to call his half-brother Carl Webster. Sally urges him to tell Abi as well. As they look ahead to the operation, Carla has a laugh with Rob and starts to feel like old times again. Shona tells Nick that Max started the fire. Nick's furious that Toyah could have died because of him. Max ignores his calls, even from Lauren. Debbie takes Abi's mind off Seb by getting them to paint their partners' portraits. Abi's embarrassed by her caricature of Kevin but is nevertheless helped by the experience. Shona brings Max some food, colluding with her stepson to evade the police. A suspicious Lauren follows her from the cafe and, catching the pair together, demands to know what's going on.

Part Four: Max is forced to tell Lauren that he started the fire. She realises he's going on the run and tells him it'll just make things worse. She's furious that he's breaking his promise to be a dad to Frankie. Kevin tells Abi and Debbie he has cancer. Dev books a flight to India. He agrees to let Aadi run his businesses while he's away. Aadi immediately regrets offering when Dev offers him no extra pay for the responsibility. Lou tries to drag Gemma into town for a night out. Rob calls Lisa demanding she tell him exactly how she'll overturn his conviction, or he won't go through with the operation. Abi is put back at square one when she knocks over a photo of Seb and again sees her son half-dead. David gets Becky McDonald to agree to have Max in Belize. He tells Shona he's going to do Andy's job as it'll earn him £10,000. He vows to do anything to stop Max from going to prison.
